What are the pore sizes of wateroam's filtration systems?
All products have pore sizes of 0.02 micron
What is the technology used in Wateroam's filtration systems?
All products utilize advanced hollow-fibre technologies
What is the lifespan of Wateroam's filtration systems?
Depending on the input water quality and the frequency of maintenance, the water filters can last 1 to 2 years.
Can I replace the filter after 2 years?
Yes. All products have available replaceable filter cartridge that can be purchased from Wateroam.
Can we purchase individual parts for replacement?
Yes. You may purchase individual spare parts from Wateroam.
Which water filtration system is best suited for me?
As water quality vary at different places, initial assessment of the water quality is helpful in determining suitability. You can contact us and our friendly team will advise you on your water project at no additional charge.
Do Wateroam's water filtration systems filter sea water?
With the advancement of technologies, seawater can be treated through Reverse Osmosis (RO) membrane or desalination. Both of which require a huge amount of energy. Wateroam's filtration systems are built to be operated with hand pump, and specialise in removing bacteria and viruses; excluding the sea water treatment.
Why use Ultra Filtration (UF) hollow-fibre, instead of Ceramic Filter (CF)?
As compared to CF, UF hollow-fibre can achieve a smaller and more uniform pore size. UF hollow-fibre is more lightweight, has a higher active surface area and thinner filtration layer. This enables the UF hollow-fibre to achieve a higher flow rate at lower pressure. To maximise durability, UF hollow-fibre needs to be kept moist even when not in use, whereas the CF does not have to be.
*UF has a smaller pore size range of 0.02 to 0.1 micron, while CF has a bigger pore size of 0.5 micron. This means that CF is incapable of filtering out viruses, which is the cause of diarrhoea. One of the most common issues of contaminated water consumption is daily diarrhoea, and we want to eliminate the cause through UF.

How is Wateroam's product different from other water filtration systems?
Many water filters are too complex, bulky, require long set-up time, and often require an energy source to generate sufficient water head to push water through the membrane. In rural conditions, we do not have the luxury of providing extensive training to villagers to ensure proper usage, vehicles to transport bulky systems, or a constant flow of electricity.
The ROAMfilter™ Plus is simple, portable, durable and does not require electricity. It is designed specifically to the needs of rural and disaster-hit conditions. Using the hand pump operation, it can produce up to 200L of water in an hour. It is easy to use, and can be carried around in your backpack – making it ideal for rural areas with little infrastructure.

What are the limitations of Wateroam's water filtration systems?
Wateroam’s products specialises in filtering bacteria, viruses and cysts within the pore size range of 0.02 microns. It is not designed to remove taste, chemicals and heavy metals. However, we are fully aware about these issues in certain locations and we are currently exploring ways to address them. Further product development will be done to enhance the technology's filtering capabilities.
Where have your filtration systems been deployed?
We've worked together with various humanitarian organisations, relief agencies, corporates, schools and religious institutions to bring clean water to over 100,000 people in 38 countries.
Have your filters been laboratory tested?
Yes! Our ROAMfilter Plus has been tested in certified laboratories in Singapore, Cambodia and Malaysia. You can review the results of these lab tests here.
